Dr Birtle has been responsible for the treatment of my prostate cancer. She has been positive, caring, supportive, and helpful throughout. She has always instilled me with the utmost confidence in her ability and expertise and answered all my questions. Her manner is friendly and encouraging and I have felt able to discuss personal issues without embarrassment. Two years after first being referred to her, I have been discharged today and feel that she has saved my life. Thank you Dr Birtle!

My first visit to Alison having been confirmed as having prostate cancer - found her to be very approachable, giving best advice albeit a lot to take in on my part. Never the less she patiently explained until she was sure I understood. I feel very confident in her professionalism in regard to treatment but also look forward to further appointments as I feel she tells me the situation as is with dressing anything up. Clearly she very quickly assess each person in terms of giving information. I also was shown my scans which again she explained fully what I was looking at. What was clear is that Dr Birtle is under a lot of pressure and needs the support of the specialist nurse

After being diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer in September 2016 I was treated at my local hospital. I decided I needed a second opinion and arranged for a consultation with Dr Alison Birtle. As a result Dr Birtle has been my Consultant for my prostate cancer at the Rosemere Cancer Centre, Preston since Feb 2018. I have found Dr Birtle and all the staff at Preston very helpful, cheerful and approachable. I look forward to my consultations with Dr Birtle as she is interested in me as a person and not just a patient. I feel that my treatment is about me and that I am not just another patient. Dr Birtle’s manner always puts me at ease no matter what the outcome. She explains things in way that helps both myself and my wife understand my condition, the treatment I am having and the benefits and potential side effects. I always away feel much better about things after my consultation than when I arrived. I am more than happy to recommend Dr Birtle and her team to anyone who is unfortunate enough to find themselves in my situation.
